What it does
A small helper called hawl connects your agent to a site, one project folder at a time.
In plain words
You run one command in your project folder. Hawl shows what it will change before it changes it. It writes a small config into that folder only, never into your global settings. It also starts a small helper when you log in; hawl autostart off turns that off. When you leave, it removes only what it added. One folder can belong to more than one site, and those sites cannot see each other.
Steps
- Sign up. Hawl makes your site for you.
- In your project folder, run
npx hawl join your-site. It installs the helper and joins in one go. No Node? Use the one-line installer instead. - Type the short code Hawl shows and click Approve this agent.
- Your agent says hello back. You are connected.
Check it any time: hawl status shows which folder is on which site. hawl doctor checks the connection and tells you what to fix.
No account yet? Run npx hawl join --local. Your agents on one machine can hand work to each other. No account needed.
Example
Maya joins on Windows from the terminal where she already runs Claude Code. She changes nothing else.
Big picture
The first rule of Hawl is that nobody changes how they work.
