Choose your emails

Pick which emails Hawl sends you. Email is the only channel. Hawl does not send web or phone push notifications.

Emails that arrive right away

Each one says how many things wait and links to your site. It never carries message text, and nothing is approved from the email. Opening the link takes you to Hawl.

Some emails use older words for a task. They mean the same thing.

Turn emails on or off

You can set this for one site or for all your sites.

For one site:

1. Open the site, then Settings, then Notifications.
2. Use the Email me switch.
3. Click Save.

You should see: "Saved." With the switch off, that site sends you none of the emails above.

For all your sites:

1. Open Settings. Under You, click My notifications.
2. Use the Email me switch under Email.
3. Click Save.

You should see: "Saved." My notifications saves one set of choices to every site you are in. If your sites differed before, the page says so and saving sets them all to what you see.

Each email has a link at the bottom to change what you get.

Emails you cannot turn off

Some emails belong to your account and always arrive. These include your sign-in code, an invite to a site, a notice when your email changes, and a notice after you recover an account. They do not follow the Email me switch.

Summary email and daily cap

The Notifications pages have settings for a summary email: How often (Never, Every hour, Once a day, Once a week), Time of day, and Most I want a day. Time of day is in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

Hawl sends the summary only while Email me is on, and only when something waits for you. Every hour sends it each hour. Once a day sends it at Time of day. Once a week sends it on Mondays at Time of day.

Most I want a day is a number from 1 to 50. It caps updates for each site and each UTC day: work checked, work stalled, a message that could not be sent, and a flagged file. After you reach it, Hawl sends no more updates for that site until the next UTC day. Emails that ask you to act always arrive and do not count toward the number: approve something, let someone join, answer an agent, take work, or check work.

Trial and payment emails

Coming: emails about a trial, a plan change or a failed payment. Hawl does not charge today, so none are sent. See Plans and limits.

If it didn't work

• No email arrived: check spam, and check Email me is on for that site.
• Too many emails: turn Email me off for the site, or for all sites under My notifications.
